    Approval of Replacement Galley Units and Wardrobes

     

    1 Introduction

     

    This AAN has been raised to record the approval of the Britax Sell galley and wardrobe modules for Concorde. The installation of these modules form part of the Britax Aircraft Interiors UK Limited Omnibus modification number R636, the approval of which is addressed under AAN 27258.

     

    2 Modification Descriptions

     

    This modification incorporates electrically powered Galley and Wardrobe units as described below and detailed in the Britax Sell DDP number 1007Y00A-01;

     

    Galley Unit 1 (1007Y11A00000)

     

    This is a side facing unit which contains provisions for a steam oven. It also incorporates an auxiliary table (10007Y11A10143), a flight attendant seat, stowage for two full size carts, and fittings for a cabin crew phone. The approval of the steam oven is covered under the Britax Aircraft Interiors Omnibus modification AAN 27258.

     

    Galley Unit 2 (1007Y12A00000)

     

    This is a side facing unit which contains various compartments for stowage of emergency equipment, ground equipment, wardrobe, a tape recorder, and four standard containers.

     

    Galley Unit 3 (1007Y13A00000)

     

    This is a side facing unit with water supply and drainage. The unit provides stowage for one full size cart, two half size carts, two standard units, two beverage makers and a warming cupboard, and incorporates a waste compartment.

     

    Galley Unit 4 (1007Y14A00000)

     

    This is a side facing unit which is electrically powered. The unit provides compartments for five standard units, one waste compartment, a stowage compartment for trolley top trays, fittings for a cabin crew phone, and a flight attendant seat.

     

    Galley Unit 5 (1007Y15A00000)

     

    This is a side facing unit incorporating an auxiliary table, stowage for emergency equipment, stowage for two half size carts and seven standard units, two compartments for miscellaneous equipment, one compartment for trolley top trays, fittings for a cabin crew phone, and a flight attendant seat.

     

    Galley Unit 6 (1007Y16A00000)

     

    This is a side facing unit which contains an auxiliary table, stowage for emergency equipment, two half size carts and eight standard units, a compartment for an auxiliary table, three compartments for miscellaneous equipment, a compartment for a waste container, and a flight attendant seat.

     

    Galley Unit 7 (1007Y17A00000)

     

    This is a forward facing unit with a water supply and drainage. The module contains provisions for one double steam oven, and provides stowage for three full size meal tray carts, two half size beverage carts, two beverage makers, one standard unit and a warming cupboard, and a compartment for a waste container, and a compartment for miscellaneous stowage.

     

    Galley Unit 3 and Wardrobe No.1 (1007Y18A00000)

     

    This is a rear facing unit which provides compartments for five standard containers, compartments for two half size beverage carts and two beverage makers, one compartment for miscellaneous stowage, and a compartment for a wardrobe, magazine racks, footrests and fold down display unit.

     

    Wardrobe No.2 (1007Y19A00000)

     

    This is a side facing unit which contains a compartment for clothing, magazine racks, footrests and a fold down table, and fittings for a display unit.

     

    Wardrobe No.3 (1007Y20A00000)

     

    This is a rear facing unit which is electrically powered and contains a compartment for a wardrobe, two stowage compartments, a compartment for emergency equipment, magazine racks and footrests, and a fold down table, and fittings for a display unit.

     

    Wardrobe No.4 (1007Y21A00000)

     

    This is a side facing electrically powered unit which contains an auxiliary table, a compartment for a wardrobe, two compartments for miscellaneous stowage, a magazine rack, a compartment for foot rests, and a fold down table, a flight attendant seat, and fittings for a display unit and cabin crew phone.

     

    3 Approval Procedures

     

    This modification approval has been carried out in accordance with British Civil

     

    Airworthiness Requirements (BCAR) sub section A2-5.

     

    4 Basis of Approval

     

    4.1 CAA Approval basis for the Modification

     

    The TSS Standards as detailed in the CAA TCDS BA10, form the Certification

     

    Basis for Concorde and the relevant requirements therein were applicable to this modification. Britax Sell reviewed the TSS Standards against the requirements of

     

    JAR 25 at change 14, and elected to comply with JAR 25, where the JAR 25 requirement is equal to or more stringent than the standard specified in the TSS.

     

    In addition to this, the applicable parts of UK Airworthiness notice Number 99

     

    (Galley Equipment) were applied.

     

    5 Compliance with the Basis of Approval

     

    The Britax Sell Declaration of Design and Performance (DDP) ref DDP1007Y00A-01 Issue 5 or later approved revision, and the Britax Sell Compliance Check List PCL 1007Y 01 issue 4, identify the means of compliance with the requirements.

     

    5.1 Structural compliance

     

    Britax Sell has demonstrated compliance with the applicable JAR 25 stress requirements, utilising the load factors defined in Concorde Technical Specification

    5.2 Fire properties Compliance

     

    Britax Sell has demonstrated compliance with the applicable requirements by testing and by similarity with previously tested and approved Sell materials, as described in the following Test and Equivalency Reports;

    5.3 Fire Containment Compliance

     

    Britax Sell has demonstrated compliance with the applicable fire containment requirements for the waste compartments, by similarity with previously tested and approved Britax Sell waste compartments installed in a Singapore Airlines B747-

    5.4 Electrical Compliance

     

    Britax Sell Report E1-07Y.00.A.00-10 provides a list of electrical loads which will be

     

    taken into account in the full Aircraft Load Analysis performed by Britax Aircraft Interiors.

     

    6 Conditions Affecting this Approval

     

    The compatibility of this modification with other previously approved modifications installed on the particular aircraft must be verified by the installer. Where a potential for interactions between modifications exist, the advice of the CAA shall be sought.

     

    This AAN does not approve the installation of the modules into the aircraft, since this is covered under AAN 27258.

     

    7 Continued Airworthiness

     

    Continued Airworthiness of the modules is addressed in the Britax Sell Component

     

    Maintenance Manual 25-03-22 Revision B.

     

    The influence of the modification on Airworthiness Directives, service Bulletin eligibility and other data must be considered, and the publications monitored accordingly. The maintenance documentation for the aircraft should include reference to this material as appropriate, in addition to that of the original design.

     

    8. Survey

     

    This aircraft (G-BOAA) being the first to embody this modification, will be surveyed by the CAA.

     

    9. Authorisation of Release to Service

     

    All actions required by the procedures for release to service following maintenance and modification must have been completed.

     

    10. Approval

     

    Subject to the conditions of Section 6 above, Britax Sell Galley Modules and Wardrobes

     

    Modification 1007Y00A-01, are approved for installation on any Concorde Variant 102 aircraft Certificated in the Transport Category (Passenger), provided that it conforms with the contents of this AAN and the aircraft is operated in accordance with the Flight Manual.
